Kaş
There are many ruins around Kaş such as Istlada, Apollonia, Isinda, Kyaenai and many other ancient cities with unknown names. These are large and small ancient settlements. For example, there is a small settlement called Tysse on a low hill near the village of Tüse.
Geography
Its surface area is 2.231 km². It is separated from Fethiye district of Muğla with Eşen Stream in the west. It neighbors Demre in the east and Elmalı in the north. Across the Mediterranean Sea, at a distance of 2,100 meters, is the Greek island of Meis. Located 189 km from Antalya provincial center, Kas has a coastal length of 70 km.
The Mediterranean climate prevails in Kaş. Summers are hot and dry, winters are mild and rainy. Mediterranean climate effect is seen up to 700 m. above sea level. The higher parts are under the influence of continental climate. Kas Town is the coolest place on the Mediterranean coast during the day. It also has the lowest values of the Mediterranean coastline in terms of humidity in summer. In winter, it is the only center in Turkey where the air temperature never drops below 0.
Kaş has developed very rapidly in recent years as it is one of the important pillars of cultural tourism. Since tourism is the most important source of livelihood in the town, the construction sector has also made a rapid breakthrough. Due to the almost complete disappearance of agriculture in the surrounding villages, Kaş is receiving significant migration, while locals and foreigners who want to escape the big city and live in a Mediterranean town continue to settle in Kaş.
