Xsanthos
17 Km. North of Kalkan lie the ruins of Xsanthos, the administrative center of Lycia. The British archaeologist Charles FELLOWS started excavations with the permission of the Ottoman government in 1838, but smuggled the findings to England on a warship. These important artifacts shedding light on the Lycian civilization are today in the Lycian Hall of the British Museum.
