It was the largest religious center of the Lycian region, dedicated to the goddess Leto, who gave birth to Apollo and Artemis. Great celebrations such as Dionysian festivals were also held in this city. Finds from the excavations show that Letoon was founded in the 8th century BC. The ruins of the city are located near Kınık on the Kalkan-Fethiye highway, at the foot of the hill where the Hellenistic theater is located.
