Patara
Under the sands of the famous Patara beach west of Kalkan lies one of the six great cities of Lycia and its most important harbor. When and by whom it was founded is not known for certain. Patara is famous not only for the ruins of the ancient city but also for its 20 km long beach. The ancient Patara was abandoned centuries ago because it was buried under the sands. Caretta caretta sea turtles lay their eggs on the sand of the beach. The sea is quite shallow on the coast. Since the wind is almost never missing on these coasts, windsurfing can also be done.
